DEVELOPMENT  OF  POST-GRADUATE  PSYCHOTHERAPY TRAINING  COURSES

 

In 1982 Michael initiated a psychotherapy training course which evolved into the M Med. Sc. (Psychotherapy) N.U.I.

 

Member of the Irish Organising Committee of the Group Analysis Course Dublin 1986 in collaboration with the Institute of Group Analysis London.

 

In 1990 Michael initiated a Diploma in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Training.  Now M.Sc. Trinity College Dublin.  Michael is Director.

 

As tutor in Psychotherapy Queens University Belfast, Michael was involved in discussions about a Masters course in Q.U.B. which is being offered now.  Over 4 years Michael was involved in training of Lord John Alderdice who became the Director of this M.Med.Sc. (Q.U.B.) Psychotherapy as well as a number of other students who are now trainers there – which still continues.

   

Michel was involved in discussions with two of my ex-students about an M.Phil. Course in T.C.D. on Psychoanalytic Studies.  This commenced in October 1993.  Michael continues to teach on this course.

 

Michael was Co-Chairperson of Irish Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy when it initiated a three year training programme in psychoanalytic psychotherapy in 1993.  This is now an M.Sc.
